Scholarship Guidelines

The Rotary Club of Lillington generally awards two $2000 4-year college scholarships each year and one $4000 Reid Ross Scholarship every four years.

The four-year $2000 scholarships must be authorized by the Scholarship Committee each year.  The minimal criteria to receive the second, third, and fourth year’s funds are as follows:

  • Attend and complete education at a four year college or university.
  • Maintain a GPA of 2.75 or better and submit a copy of your transcripts to the scholarship committee of the Rotary Club of Lillington by June 30th of each year.
  • Take part in community service and school activities each year and submit a list of such service and activities annually to the scholarship committee.
  • Attend at least one meeting of the Rotary Club of Lillington each year and briefly speak to the club about your college and community service experience.

Reid Ross Scholarship $4000 scholarship must be authorized by the Scholarship Committee each year, and the student must:

  • Continue to pursue a career in education.
  • Attend and complete education at a four year college or university.
  • Maintain a GPA of 2.75 or better and submit a copy of your transcripts to the scholarship committee of the Rotary Club of Lillington by June 30th of each year.
  • Take part in community service and school activities each year and submit a list of such service and activities annually to the scholarship committee.
  • Attend at least one meeting of the Rotary Club of Lillington each year and briefly speak to the club about your college and community service experience.

If a student is not able to fulfill the requirements for their scholarship, then he/she will not be eligible to receive future scholarship funds. It is up to the Chairman of the Scholarship Committee, upon receipt of the  transcripts with a 2.75 GPA, to inform the treasurer of where to mail the check, the student for which funds are being disbursed, the student’s school ID number, and the amount authorized.
