Our own Glenn Hood was honored with the Rotary Foundation’s Citation for Meritorious Service at the district conference in Asheboro last weekend. One Rotarian from each district may be recognized with the Citation for Meritorious Service by the Trustees each year. Nominations are solicited from district governors and RI Directors. The Trustees consider these nominations throughout the year until 15 May.

A handsome certificate in a walnut frame is presented to the recipient of this award. The Trustees recognize Rotarians who have rendered significant service to The Rotary Foundation.

  • This award shall only be given for demonstrated active service to Rotary’s Foundation over a period of more than one year.
  • Only one recipient per district is allowed in each Rotary year and only once in their lifetime.
  • Current and incoming Trustees of The Rotary Foundation are not eligible, or to nominate candidates, for this award.
  • The current district governor of the nominee’s district, if not the nominator, must endorse the nomination.

A maximum of approximately 530 of these citations are awarded each year.  The nomination is by the district governor and it is placed before the TRF Board of Trustees and chaired by a past Rotary International President (in this case, Carl-Wilhelm Stenhammar, 2005-06).

Our club had a very good representation at the annual Rotary District 7710 Conference, this year located in Asheville, North Carolina. 25% of our Club was in attendance!

We came away with a nomination for best website, the President’s Citation, and with Glenn Hood being highly honored for all his hard work with The Rotary Foundation.
