Rotarians Have Cause to Dance
The annual Cornelius Harnett Ball was again a success on Saturday, March 17th, as Lillington Rotarians and guests danced the night away to raise money for scholarships and other local community causes.
Competition with a number of community events, March Madness, and St. Patrick’s Day celebrations caused ticket sales to go down only slightly this year, however, "It was really a fund time," said President Peter Goolsby, "it really turned up towards the end of the evening."
Leon Jordan and the Continentals were once again on-hand to supply lively and fun dance music. The swing era music, along with a catered buffet, and a silent auction proved entertaining to all.
Jason Wunsch, who coordinated the silent auction, was extremely pleased with its outcome of raising close to $1,000 on sales from sports memorabilia to potter and Carolina Hurricane tickes (which netted the largest bid).
All in all, the Rotary Club of Lillington was able to raise more than $5,000 toward its projects.
